Recollections from a Brother

Created by Roy 3 years ago

Dennis was so upset that he was not able to travel over to Lincoln today, but did say his last goodbye to Brian watching the video link. Afterwards we talked about Brian, and Dennis said that Brian's childhood nickname had been "Bridge", but had no idea why. Dennis also said that he and Brian had been great mates growing up and when old enough to frequent pubs spent many a happy hour knocking a few pints back. Dennis considered that National Service broke the closeness somehow, but still remained faithful brothers to each other. Brian was of course Best Man to Dennis when he married Kath, and he recalled that at the end of a lively stag night, Brian gave one of the worse for wear revellers a lift home on the crossbar of his bike!

A further childhood story was the Sunday ritual of their Mum and Dad taking the four of them to the pub at the top of Bracebridge Heath, and then Kath, Pearl, Dennis and Brian racing each other back down the South Common. The winner was awarded with a sixpence. However, despite his obvious sporting prowess, Pearl usually won the cash!

All the best Brian.

And our love to Margaret, Lynn, Mark, and to every family member
